Business School Profile:
Northwestern Kellogg
“I Have a Kellogg MBA.” This statement can be made proudly by the more than 50,000 proud graduates living around the globe. Consistently ranked in the top tier by BusinessWeek, US News and The Economist, the Kellogg MBA program attracts students seeking a comprehensive general management education with an international focus. And when it comes to marketing, most would agree that this is The Place.
Course offerings at Kellogg “evolve with the market” and prepare students to address and solve problems strategically and creatively. In fact, since 1908, Kellogg has been rewriting the rules of management education, broadening the scope of study and fostering a culture of collaboration. Today, a host of ever-changing electives (some 200) complement a challenging core curriculum that includes the highly popular Global Initiatives in Management, designed and coordinated by a group of faculty-selected students. Experiential learning takes places through courses and labs, and opportunities outside the classroom.
Before arriving on campus, as a Kellogg MBA student you will take the 360-Degree Leadership Assessment to determine your individual leadership strengths and goals. This also helps new students map out the electives they will select. Another important resource is the Career Management Center (CMC), which our clients have valued, in particular the one-on-one strategy sessions and job search counseling.
The unique Kellogg Worldwide Experiences and Service Trips (KWEST) is one of the most popular non-academic opportunities here. Taken before the term begins, KWEST introduces students to one another and allows them to experience Kellogg teamwork firsthand.
Business case competitions are huge with the highly collaborative Kellogg MBA students, and they have a strong track record of success. Students have also had an impact through the Global Health Initiative and Kellogg Corps, contributing in important ways to underserved communities locally, nationally and internationally. This spirit and “giving and giving back” is palpable on the Evanston, Illinois campus – fondly referred by some as “Kamp Kellogg.”
Kellogg faculty members are thought leaders, industry experts, esteemed scholars (just check out some of their current research!) and successful practitioners. They not only teach, mentor and run Kellogg’s research centers, these are often authors of the subjects they are teaching.
This profile would not be complete without adding a few words about living in Evanston. Whether it’s hanging out on the beach – yes, Northwestern is located on the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan – or catching some hot Chicago blues or jazz or sampling a world of ethnic cuisine, diversions abound for Kellogg students.
